DESCRIPTION:f we have bad weather and road conditions become unsafe for one of our shows we will reschedule for Feb 16th. So keep that weekend open just in case. \nSign ups 8am. Walkthroughs prior to each division. First walkthrough at 9am. Patterns will be posted online. Placings posted and awards given out shortly after each class has been completed. \nALL BREEDS WELCOME\nYou must be in a western saddle and western attire. There will be some drag obstacles that would not be possible to complete without a saddle horn. \nNovice division will be walk trot with no jumps. This will be a TRUE Novice class. If you have any question about whether or not you should be in the novice class\, please contact Ashley. This class is meant to be saved for those who are very new to obstacles and may have never done any cattle work before. \nProhibited obstacles: Tarps\, plastic bags\, rocking bridges\, anything designed to intentionally spook a horse. \nExample obstacles. Gate\, side-pass a log\, back through\, dead fall\, bridge\, lope over poles\, drag\, carry an object from point “A” to point “B”\, spin etc… \nEach Ranch Obstacle Pattern will include eight obstacles. Upon completion of the pattern a cow will be released into the arena and you will have two minutes to complete your cattle work. \nThe cattle work will be one “job” like driving between two designated objects. Example: two panels or into a pen. \nCattle will be handled and treated as if you were working on a ranch and are to be stressed as little as possible. High scores will be rewarded to those that complete the task in a calm and correct manner with minimal stress to the horse and cow. \nBoth the obstacles and the cattle work will be scored on the same score card and added together for your overall score. \nLIMITED TO 35 HORSES\nOne horse can be ridden in all of the divisions as long as the rider is suited for the division. \nFIVE divisions. Please read flyer for pricing and other details! \nAdditional Rules and even more details to follow! \nWe will begin accepting registrations by the end of the week. It is critical that you pre-register for this because of the limited spots.

The American Royal is once again honored to be hosting the UPHA (United Professional Horseman’s Association) National Championship. The very best Saddlebreds\, Hackney Ponies\, and Road Horses from UPHA chapters throughout the country will come to Kansas City to compete for the prestige of being National Champions. \nTicketed sessions start at 6:30pm on Thursday\, Friday and Saturday evenings. Be sure to attend The National Championship Stake Night (Saturday Night)\, where the competition comes to an exciting close as National Champions are crowned in 14 Classes. The final class will be the Five Gaited National Championship. \nIn support of Folds of Honor\, the Veteran’s Class will feature “Veteran” 3-gaited Show Pleasure American Saddlebred horses\, 11 years and over. To honor and showcase the longevity and competitiveness of the American Saddlebred\, and in appreciation of our military veterans\, this new division is being introduced to promote our seasoned American Saddlebred horses. The horse must be turning 11\, or older\, in the current year of competition. 11 years was chosen to coincide with Veteran’s Day\, which is celebrated annually on November 11th. \nOrigins of the Saddlebred Horse\nThe Saddlebred originated in Colonial America and can be traced to pre-Civil War times. The preferred horse for families of that era\, the majestic Saddlebred horse was both a stylish harness horse and a trusted partner under saddle. Their ability to pull a buggy and also carry men across the fields to monitor their crops made them a versatile partner for families. Smooth gaits\, plus speed were important. \nToday\, the standard of excellence is beauty\, symmetry and balance. The Saddlebred possesses animation\, brilliance and extreme grace of movement. The Saddlebred is seen in Three Gaited classes\, Five Gaited classes\, Pleasure classes and Fine Harness classes. No other breed of horse can match the smooth\, beautiful gaits of the American Saddlebred Horse.

On Saturday September 29\, bikers from Topeka and surrounding communities will convene at the Hope and Healing Academy (HAHA) barn and then make their way to five stops at local biker-friendly bars in the area. Registration is from 12-2 pm at HAHA\, which is located at 10437 SW 53rd St\, Topeka\, KS 66610.  The cost is $25 per bike with day-of or online registration available.
