Dr. Mike is a gifted trainer, instructor, author, and equine scientist using classical and natural horsemanship and evidence based research to help you and your horse build a more harmonious relationship using centered riding. He has trained, competed and judged in classic and western dressage and is a founding member and judge of the North American Western Dressage Association.
Don’t let the word DRESSAGE intimidate you!
All levels of riders and their equines are welcome including classical dressage riders and western riders.
This clinic is modeled to benefit horsemanship in any discipline.

MORNING AND AFTERNOON SESSION EACH DAY.
Each group limited to 12 riders.
9 hours of instruction!
$150 per group (for both days)
Ride both days all day $300.
No additional fee for paid riders to audit other group’s session.

Morning Session: 8 AM -12:30 PM
GROUP 1 *Intro/Beginner Level Riders *
– Foundations of Dressage —
Understanding the goals of Dressage. A review of Dressage court geometry. Why dressage can help in any discipline.
Riding the perfect straight line, circle or ride on the diagonal.
GROUP 2 *Intermediate/Advanced Riders*
Afternoon: 1 pm – 5:30 pm
– Dressage and Performance Horse Development
Developing and Maintaining the Dressage and Performance Horse – Progress through a series of exercises to supple and prepare your horse for any discipline – based on the foundation exercises and movements of classical dressage horsemanship. Riders need to be able to canter.
Sunday, May 20th, 2018
Morning Session: 8 AM-12:30 PM
GROUP 1 *Intro/Beginner Level Riders*
– Foundations of Dressage –
Riding a Dressage test for success. Each rider will ride a test and receive instant feedback/coaching and then re-ride the test.
Work on the feel of footfalls and the asymmetry of horses and why this can be improved with dressage
Afternoon Session: 8 AM-12:30 PM
GROUP 2 *Intermediate/Advanced Riders*
– Dressage and Performance Horse Development –
Challenge test for each horse and rider in this class – we will identify your strengths and weaknesses. Work on timing and the ability to make smooth transitions in gaits.
Primitive camping with portable panel pens (not covered) available. $15/night.
Negative Coggins required.
Breakfast/lunch/snacks concession will be available each day for purchase! Come hungry!
Rain or shine!
80×150 Lighted Indoor Arena with viewing area and restroom. Footing is maintained for dust control.
